Sometimes unexpected expenses can leave you sidelined with too little cash in your checking account. If you have ever bounced a check because of insufficient funds, you know it can be a costly, inconvenient and embarrassing situation. That's why CBC offers Courtesy Pay overdraft privilege.^
CBC will authorize and pay overdrafts for checks and other transactions made using your checking account number. We also pay overdrafts of automatic bill payments that have been initiated by you. If you overdraft your account in this way, you will be charged the $25.00 Courtesy Pay fee*, however, your item will be covered but you must re-pay it within 30 days.
NOTE: CBC does NOT authorize and pay overdrafts for ATM transactions and Debit card transactions unless you OPT IN to Courtesy Pay.
To OPT IN to Courtesy Pay for your ATM and Debit card transactions, log into your account using PC Access and click the OPT IN banner on the Account Summary page.
Courtesy Pay gives you an added level of protection against insufficient funds and it is only used once every other form of overdraft protection has been used. Other forms of overdraft protection may include linking your checking account to a savings or money market account or to a line of credit. There is only a $2.00 charge for transfers from these accounts.*
If you're enrolled in our PC Access internet banking service, you may opt in or opt out of Courtesy Pay at any time by logging into your account and clicking the OPT IN banner on the Account Summary page. All CBC members may opt in or opt out by calling 805-988-2151 or visiting a branch.
^Your account must be in good standing to be eligible for Courtesy Pay. Restrictions may apply.
*Fees are as of June 2010 and subject to change.
