Checking:

Courtesy Pay:
At certain times, unanticipated expenses or unforeseen problems can leave you with too little cash in your checking account. Having a check returned due to insufficient funds can be a costly, inconvenient and potentially embarrassing experience. An insufficient balance can result from several events, such as (1) the payment of checks, electronic funds transfers or other withdrawal requests, such as purchases made with your ATM or debit card; (2) payments authorized by you; (3) the return of unpaid items deposited by you; (4) credit union service charges; or (5) the deposit of items which, according to the credit union’s Funds Availability Policy, are treated as not yet available or finally paid. That’s why CBC Federal Credit Union provides Courtesy Pay to our members.

At CBC FCU we do not encourage overdrafts. As always we encourage you to manage your finances responsibly. However we want to save you from the additional merchant fees and possible damage to your credit history that might result if a check is returned. Courtesy Pay is an overdraft privilege limit that is automatically assigned to your account. There is no action required on your part. You do not need to sign anything.

Courtesy Pay gives you an added level of protection against unanticipated cash flow emergencies and account reconciliation errors. It will only go into effect after any other means of Overdraft Protection have been used.

In the event you would like to have this service removed from your account, you may do so by calling (805) 988-2151. However, once this service is removed, you should keep in mind that if an item is presented for payment and there are non-sufficient funds in your account, the item will be returned to the payee and our standard NSF and/or Overdraft Fee will be charged per item.
