Unfortunately, retirement planning doesn’t stop once you retire, it just changes names. Now it’s called:
Retirement Distribution Planning
Investment Planning involves managing your investable assets in an attempt to achieve your desired balance between return (i.e. – income), safety, and liquidity.
Income Planning is the process of determining how much retirement income you need, then managing your assets in a way that will meet those needs. This means taking a holistic view of all your assets, including pensions, social security, annuities, IRA’s, 401k’s and other assets, to develop an integrated strategy to maximize the benefit of each.
Retirement Distribution Planning is similar to Income Planning, but also considers the tax consequences of various income planning scenarios.
Beneficiary Planning involves titling accounts and establishing beneficiaries in a way that allows your assets to be distributed according to your wishes, without going through probate.
Estate Planning is a more comprehensive version of beneficiary planning and may involve the creation of Trusts, Powers of Attorney and other legal documents to provide guidance to loved ones in the event of your incapacitation or death.*
