Rick Weber, President and CEO of CBC Federal Credit Union
Rick Weber – President & CEO

We are excited to, once again, offer our financial products and services in the East part of Ventura County with a new Simi Valley location which opened on Wednesday, December 14th. The Simi Valley branch offers all of our award-winning services. Additionally, we have partnered with our friends from Dunkin Donuts to give our members a CBC Café experience, similar to our remodeled Camarillo Branch. Currently, the Dunkin side is under construction and is expected to open and operational by late Spring of 2023.

As we move into 2023, we are working on plans to remodel our Oxnard Branch so we can offer an improved member experience at our most popular location. Also, we continue to search for a great new location in the South Oxnard area.

The end of 2022 marks the first full year of operations with our credit union-owned insurance broker, which has now provided insurance coverage to more than 400 CBC and community families. We look forward to continuing to grow CBC’s Insurance Agency.

CBC continues to grow and expand services to our members by delivering the best products, competitive rates, and the high level of service you have expected from us. We wish you and your family a happy new year as we look forward to what 2023 brings.

2022 Highlights!

2022 was a momentous year for CBC. One of our main focuses at CBC is serving the underserved. In 2022, we were certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). This certification allows us to supply financial services to small businesses and low-income individuals. With our CDFI designation, we created new services such as New Beginning Checking and Payday Alternative Lending to help members in need get back on track with their finances. If you have any questions or want more information on these products, give us a call at (805) 988-2151 or pop into one of our branch locations.

Make sure you stop by our new Simi Valley branch! We are at 1377 E Los Angeles Avenue in the Mountain Gate Plaza. In 2023, our Simi Valley branch will include a Dunkin Donuts Café so you can enjoy coffee and donuts while handling all your banking needs. We also plan to offer DMV express services, to help our members avoid DMV lines. We look forward to serving the financial needs of Simi Valley. We hope to see you there!

With CBC expansion in mind, we have extended our field of membership to now include Kern County, Ventura County, Santa Barbara County, Los Angeles County, and San Louis Obispo County. If you would still like to become a member of CBC but do not live, work, or worship in the listed counties, do not worry! We also serve members and employees of Pierpoint Elementary PTA and employees of the Channel Islands Art Center. We look forward to serving these communities and providing them with excellent service.

Our community is always a priority for us. It is our mission at CBC to help serve the underserved. This year, our mission was recognized by Juntos Avanzamos and they designated us as a Juntos Avanzamos Credit Union. This designation is only provided to credit unions that are committed to serving the underserved and empowering Hispanic communities. In 2022, we were so lucky to be able to come together with our community partners and fellow credit unions to celebrate one common goal, bettering our community. Together, we strategized the best ways to better serve our shared community. We are looking forward to improving our community and the financial well-being of our members in 2023.

We cannot wait to see what is in store for 2023! Thank you to all our members who make CBC possible every day. We wish you a happy new year!

Employee Spotlight

Katherine Rosene

Administrative Support Specialist

Katherine (Kat) Rosene has been a team member at CBC since August of 2014. She is our Administrative Support Specialist but has experience working with many of our departments. She has worked in our old Port Hueneme branch as a Member Service Representative, spent time growing our team with the Learning and Development Department, and she has assisted members in our Payment Service Department and our Account Service Center. Kat has worn many hats in her years here at CBC, but she says the best part about working here is her team members and her chance to get involved in our community.

When she is not working, you can find her on a baseball field cheering her son on from the sidelines. She also enjoys going to the gym, getting some sunshine at the beach, and having game nights with family and friends. The CBC team is very grateful for Katherine’s hard work and continuous efforts to support our team. We are incredibly lucky to have her.

Community Snapshot

During the first week of December, Food Share held their 11th Annual CAN-A-Tree Drive to help reduce food insecurity for many families in Ventura County during this holiday season. Food Share is currently serving three times the number of people than they were pre-pandemic. The CAN-A-Tree event is a great way to have many individuals and organizations make a significant contribution to Food Share’s mission and our local community. Participants were able to get in the Christmas spirit to build and decorate a Christmas tree made from canned food.

CBC had the honor and opportunity to be part of Food Share’s annual event. Our team did an outstanding job creating and decorating two incredibly looking trees themed “Santa’s North Pole.” It was many our teams members’ first time building canned trees. Although the task seems easy to do, it was a bit of a challenge keeping it from falling. CAN-A-Tree was a fun experience to be a part of not only in building canned trees but in making a positive impact in our community. A special thanks to all team members who have volunteered to support those in need through the year.
